TEN POUND APE: YOUR MOTHER WAS BEAUTIFUL ONCE

Me & You Variety Candy los angeles is proud to present the international artist collective, Ten Pound Ape. For this exhibition, Ten Pound Ape turns the typical art opening/DJ party on its head. They have created a site-specific large scale jukebox sculpture where members of the collective will play music from within and simultaneously dispense fortunes.

Founded in the city of Guanajuato, Mexico, in 2004, Ten Pound Ape is an international collective with a vested interest in culture and mythology. "Our aim is to reveal the horizontal, exhume metaphor, and assert nobility and grace, all the while, with our tongues firmly pressed against our cheeks."

Ten Pound Ape is Ilka Vasconcelos Araujo, Penelope Armada, Gustavo Herrera, Archie M. Purvis, John Fischer Stevenson III, and Matt Wardell.

Ten Pound Ape would like to dedicate this installation for Enki Hadar who passed into ether earlier this year. We will miss him/her.
